HOUSING ESTATES MAPPING - PHASE 1

Following the tragedy at Grenfell and with fire safety at front and centre of everyone’s mind, this project aimed to map all of the fire exits, extinguishers and emergency access to our estates for emergency services. As part of this project, I managed the team as they gathered information from estate staff and managers on the location of fire safety equipment and access. Once completed, training sessions were set up for the housing service on how to use the maps in emergency situations. The mapping exercise helped us to think about where residents should gather if an emergency situation should arise. It also helps with succession planning, ensuring that information traditionally in the minds of estate staff is kept electronically and available for new staff. The second phase of the project will include:

  • the addition of floor plans for all of our blocks

  • inclusion of all vulnerable tenants and their locations

  • and the means to connect the map to the emergency services so they can prepare en route should any incident occur.
